El Arthur’s Seat
Este icónico mirador ofrece impresionantes vistas y un fácil acceso, además de vestigios prehistóricos, ideal para los amantes de la naturaleza y la historia.
Literally translated as Arthur's seat. Its name comes, as I'm sure you can imagine, from the Arthurian Myth. There is also another theory that its name is something else, Archer's Seat, the archer's seat. All in all, it is the tallest of the mountains in Holyrood Park. At over 250 metres high, the views are spectacular.
The natural area is very similar to that of the Highlands. It is only a kilometre and a half from Edinburgh Castle. It is quite a popular walk because of its simplicity. In fact, you can climb it from almost any direction, although the easiest is from the east. Like the castle, Arthur's Seat sits on volcanic rock.
If you're a good observer you'll also get to see the prehistoric settlements that still remain. Seventeen small coffins containing carved human figures were discovered in the 19th century.
