Fort George
Impresionante fortificación militar del siglo XVIII, activa y con un armamento notable. Su vasta muralla ofrece un agradable paseo costero para los visitantes.
A massive artillery fortification and one of the finest examples of 18th century military engineering built over 20 years in the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden. It was designed as the main fortress in the Scottish Highlands, and as well as still being active, Fort George is the only property in Scotland that still retains its original purpose. It is home to two battalions of field and staff officers (some 2,000 men) and an impressive armoury of over 80 guns. Fort George is surrounded by a vast wall, which you have to walk 1.4km to get around, but thanks to its coastal location the long walk is very pleasant.
